The USC is what happens when WM's proprietary “binary fractioning” techniques are plugged into a high-performance microcontroller. Two simple buttons can adjust a huge span of 1.5% ~ 6000% (67:1 ~ 1:60) at an astonishing rate of 400,000 pulses per minute input (6.67 Khz), 800,000 ppm output (13.3 Khz). It has built-in 4-pulse averaging for stability and adjusts “on the fly” for easy GPS matching in a moving vehicle or matching the tacho on a running engine.  This makes it useful for much more than speedometers. It's also the perfect device for belt-drive alternators with odd pulse ratios and crank sensors with 100+ teeth that are too fast for WM's other converters to process. Output accuracy is better than 1% across the range, and its resolution is optimized at 0.1% for very precise trimming of speedos in the range of 1.5% ~ 150%. It also has a built-in selectable pullup resistor on the input and an optional open-collector coupling on the output, so interfacing with virtually any system or sensor is a snap.
